Children at home now?
We are continuing to share learning through play ideas and have now extended our blogs to include home learning ideas too!
Today we are sharing a literacy universal language learning idea!
I made some sustainable storytelling cards for the children to enjoy building stories whilst supporting their language and development of vocabulary, imaginative creative writing and literacy skills.
I reused cardboard packaging to make these little gems. I previously posted a Vlog on my youtube Channel, (link in blog see bio) on how to we were using them on national storytelling week.
Story cards are a fantastic way of encouraging children to develop new language and use their imagination to build a story from each illustration or word. They can also become fun problem solving family games for all ages, old and young.
You can make these cards with a picture, a picture and words or just a complex word that your child or you need to add to a story board! How about going international with it to support learning of foreign languages.
Turn it into a game!
You can turn this into a family game by adding a dice and let the dice dictate and challenge you to pick as many story cards as the dice reads to make a shorter or longer story.
We have been enjoying these cards for several weeks now; I’m about to add to our supply to make the following weeks full with as much happiness and laughter and learning through play opportunities as possible!! You can make card with a pencil or pen or really go for it and grab those arts and crafts and make vibrant storytelling card.
