We founded Kinder Harmony in 2014 after the birth of our daugther, opening our first setting in our family home and garden in a 2 up 2 down cottage, offering a warm nurturing home from home setting in the Central Bedfordshire Village of Caddington. We provided a range of hands on experiences for the children including gardening, taking care of our pet hens and lots of creative play each day from our cosy home and garden that over looked farmed fields. Each day always involved lots of child-led play, and an abundance of nature exploration in our local community.

In 2019, we relocated to Wheathampstead, Hertfordshire continuing to offer our services to families in surrounding villages, Harpenden and St Albans. This time we became advocates of Early years outdoors, embracing the feeling of Hygge and promoting children’s health and wellbeing became a key focus and inspiration particularly throughout the Covid-19 pandemic. Our beautiful cottage and wildlife garden became a haven for play and childhood where we spent most time out in the wonders of nature and surrounding countryside.

In total I had cared for 36 children during this time working alongside my sister and 2 wonderful assistants, supported unwaveringly by my Husband Andy, and achieved 2 Ofsted Outstanding grades during my childminder career which I am still so incredibly proud of.

In 2022, I studied Froebelian Early Childhood Practice at Roehampton University. The course and wonderful colleagues I made greatly inspired me to pursue my dream of opening my own Nursery and Kindergarten. There was something so intrinsically motivating and important about Froebelian Practice and I wanted to share it with the world.

In 2024, my dream came true and we opened our first PVI on commercial premises with the support of our existing community, friends and family. We also grew our team; welcoming more skilled knowledgeable professionals to our community.

Today, we have a newly established and thriving group setting on Coldharbour Lane, Harpenden, serving children up to 35 children from 18 months – 7 years old at Cosmos Nursery and Kindergarten.

We are so incredibly grateful and thankful for the opportunity to share our passion and work within a growing child-centred community.
