An Ecological environmental approach to education
At Kinder Harmony, we believe children learn best when education is founded upon strong, respectful relationships between the child, family, educators, and our planet. We build trusting and reciprocal partnerships between home and the learning environments we provide each day. We view parents as partners and nature as an awe-inspiring environment for naturally nurturing teaching throughout children’s education and care journey with us.
Curriculum
We provide a holistic early years education rich in child-led learning through well-planned, age and stage-appropriate indoor and outdoor activities and champion a curriculum rich in S.T.E.A.M (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics).
Outdoor play
Every day and in all weathers, the great outdoors offers an unlimited skyline of learning opportunities that promote physical development, sensory integration, and cognitive thinking through movement, discovery, and marvelling at nature’s awe and wonder.

We provide daily outdoor play experiences within our wildlife garden as well as visits to local nature sites and landmarks around the town. Engagement with nature can inspire a sense of adventure and connection with the natural world in early childhood and enable children to feel a deeper sense of self-confidence in their abilities while developing their sense of place within the world through the multitude of experiences nature can offer during play.
The routine of the day
Your child will receive a warm welcome in our beautiful indoor classroom every morning. They can spend the morning exploring and learning by engaging with various open-ended resources and invitations to play before heading out across town.
Outings
We plan daily outings to enable children to develop an understanding of the world and a sense of place within their communities.
We have a strong working partnership with our local community in Harpenden and a diversely skilled work force, which enables us to offer children a unique experience of place-based environmental education engaging in real life, such as shopping, and engaging in permaculture, horticulture, and small-scale agricultural development through first-hand experiences and enriching play-focused education.
We are proud keepers of our very own Kinder Farm, which is a rich natural playground of horticulture, bushcraft, and small-scale regenerative agricultural experiences.
We also visit the tranquil River Lea and Nature Reserves at Batford Spring, an ancient heath and woodland, and playgrounds around the town.
Ecological impact

Our approach to education provides the harmonious balance of a nature connected early childhood education with a modern ever changing world.
Naturally nurturing each child’s creativity to achieve their highest becoming in early childhood and beyond.
